Video from onboard this plane: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rwRzMaReuPs

I have had a lot of questions about this plane and the design, so, here is a quick video about it. It is based off of MikeysRC FPV plane, which there are free pdf's for on his website. I added a larger wing, a KFM2 airfoil, and a larger/enclosed/redesigned fuselage. The wing is 50 inches x 12 inches with 1/2 inch wall insulation foam to make the airfoil (I placed the step at 50% of the wing chord). The plane is controlled with ailerons and elevator only. A great thing about this design is that it has a pusher prop, which is perfect for aerial video and landing/taking off without landing gear. This plane is completely built out of foamboard, popsicle sticks, hot glue, packing tape, and wire for the push rods.

Side note, this plane is a bit on the heavy side (sorry, I don't know it's exact weight). This is perfect for flying in Chicago, as winds are typically between 10-15 mph, and it can handle them just great. If this plane was built with depron or the lighter dollar tree foamboard, it would be much lighter and probably be more like a glider.

Check out my other videos for footage taken onboard this plane.

I am using a Grayson Hobby 2217-06 (1500 kV) motor, 8x4 APC slowfly prop, 30A Exceed RC Volcano brushless ESC, Spektrum 6 channel AR6110 Rx, 5000 mAh 25C Blue Lipo, and 3 x 9-gram servos.

  • hey mate just finnished makeing this plane took me like 4 hours i was just wondering the cg and what battery you are useing and you estermet of the weight make the was a bit diffcult as i was try to get the mesurments by useing the 12inch wing as a idea of what every thing else meausured out can you just give me some tips of makeing it fly nice and some more measurments of:

from the front of the wing to the nose and the back of the wing to the back of the tail width of plane

    please reply ASAP

  • @callmemistert1 I put the CG at 1/3 the wing chord, so at 4 inches back from the leading edge of the wing. I used a 5000 mah battery, as I like long flights! If you look back at previous posts on this video, I give all of those measurements and more. there should be plenty of information to build this plane. Good luck!

  • @schraut5 i ended up getting a 2200mah 3sell 25c and a 1500kv motor and a 25 amp esc

there coming in the mail the over all flying weight is 1879grams do u think it will work out

  • @callmemistert1 What motor are you using? As long as the motor has enough power it should be fine

  • Thank´s for the feedback.

I will upload a video of the construction, my goal is to put some three weel like a trainer to get from the ground... waiting to have some time to get elapor material for construction all elektronic is already at home :).... tell me wath do you think about a 10X7 prop is it to big?

  • @7h3unkn0wn That prop size should be great on this plane. Due to the location of the motor and prop, a larger prop should be better because it has more surface area outside of directly behind the fuselage.

  • @schraut5 thanks alot

  • @7h3unkn0wn No problem!

  • @7h3unkn0wn That motor should be perfect with this plane. This plane is very stable, it has 600 square inches of wing area which is great for carrying weight, while still being maneuverable with a strong motor. Let me know how it goes!
