debating over whether to but sigma 30mm 1.4, or sigma 24mm 1.8...i feel like 30mm would be too much length for the 60d. For example, I picked up a nikon nikkor 50mm 1.4 ais for like $130, and i have to stand across the room to focus on a subject (realizing its more like 80mm).
So basically my question is, is the 30mm too much length for general use?

In this review you say you purchased the sigma 24mm f1.8 for around $200 but when I look on Ebay they go for more than double that. Where did you purchase your lens for such a good price?

@webeskimo You could get a Sigma10-20mm or a Tokina 11-16mm...assuming that you'll be shooting during the day...F 2.8 doesn't work for me when it comes to night photography.

canon 24mm or sigma 30mm?

@webeskimo Which camera are you using for the Sigma?
I too have the T2i and the Canon 50mm 1.8 (Mark 1 with the metal mount). I do quite a bit of concert photography, and want a wider field of view. I was wondering if the sigma 24 1.8 is sharp enough when it's wide open in low light conditions, as I am looking for high quality pix to sell to bands. The 50mm works, but I don't want to lose quality in my photos.

@drock5972 I would say the sigma 24 f1.8 is as sharp as the 50mm f1.8 wide open. It works great on my 7d, but sometimes it misses focus on my t2i. Not sure why, could be my camera or it could be the lens.
