@ccipollini1984 Because he used a few words you don't understand? I wouldn't be surprised if that was the reason, since describing Lethem as a "pompus ass" reeks of naivety. Either way, thanks for your apology.

I agree with Lethem's closing words. I write out my first drafts by hand on legal pads. Typing into the computer those words allows for a thorough revision and reorganization. I've encouraged students to do this, but thus far no takers. MOTHERLESS BROOKLYN was a very fun book, FORTRESS less so, but still worth reading. Lethem has written some excellent short stories as well.
