  • You're absolutely right @jennywhites2 there are many factors that help promote sleep. That's why I wrote a whole book on the topic. But I do think it's helpful to break it in chunks and work on little things at a time. Thanks for the comment.

  • @jjusticeIV Thanks for the input. Suffice it to say, that the general gist is that optimal sleep comes from cool rooms with cool being defined as somewhere between mid-60's to low 70's. Yes, there are studies that support lower temps (low 60's).

  • Thanks for the informative advice. Do you have any more information or books you'd recommend?

  • How to sleep better actually depends on a few factors and no single factor can contribute to a good night sleep by itself. As such it is important to learn and be familiar with all the possible factors that affect sleep and avoid those contributing factor as well as be fully aware of all the factors that help you achieve better sleep. Thus you need to manage yourself at all time, once you do that then you are in control and you can achieve what you set out to find - how to sleep better.

  • Which studies show that ideal sleeping temperature is between 68 and 74F? An often cited study (Onen et al, Presse Med. 1994 Mar 12;23(10):485-9)suggests that the optimal room temperature for sleep is much lower, between 60 and 66F. Please indicate which study this suggestion of 68-74F comes from.
