I agree with you 100%.
The A's pitcher would be better financially, but Cashman has a tendency to go for the bigger name, bigger priced pitcher (remember Randy Johnson?).
I don't want to lose some great players (Hughes, Melky, Joba, Duncan) for someone who is a 'big name'.
I think you're right in going after the A's pitcher in exchange for unproven prospects.
