Based on an actual suicide in Richardson Texas, this grunge hit by Pearl Jam tells about a boy named Jeremy. Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam read a small article in a newspaper regarding a 16 year old sophomore at Richardson High School who shot himself, as his way of getting back at the kids who tormented him. According to Vedder, he wanted to turn a small article into something bigger and wrote "Jeremy" in 1991. This was later featured on Pearl Jam's album "Ten".
Pearl Jam bass player Jeff Ament played the track with a 12-string bass. Jeremy is a rather difficult piece to completely identify on the bass. Most of it is drowned out throughout the verses, though it's easily identified at the intro and the outro.
Nice playing bro, but its off. Look at Jeff's playing a little closer.
