Women and men should not have their lives relegated to them based on biological reproductive functions. Just because someone has the potential to give birth should not mean that person should be expected to. Just because someone does not give birth doesn't mean they should not be expected to take care of children.

Homemaking has been consistently devalued by our society. It doesn't take the "elite" or "Hollywood" or "academia" to point that out. If homemaking was actually equally valued to working outside the home, then we wouldn't have seen white middle/upper middle class women leaving the home. Also, women have always worked outside the home, especially poor women and women of color. Capitalism values those who can make money. Homemaking doesn't make money.
