how imesurably greater was what he gave to the world than all the false prophets. he lives on in the minds of those who ask questions and strugle for answeres.

Here's a human translation:
Actually I've seen it several times, it always moves me. I am grateful for having seen Cosmos as a child; it brought to me so many good afternoons by the TV in the 80's. I am already 40 and I am keen on astronomy. I am here thanks to him. Greetings to all the chilean friends. How wonderful it is to remember our beloved professor Carl Sagan, the most important man in my life right after my father he's like my second father.
Greetings to Chile, kisses!

Didn't know Carl Sagan was Jewish. I was surprised to see Hebrew letters on his parents' headstone.

@SaganAppreciationSoc @SaganAppreciationSoc "Interestingly, when I applied to Cornell, my application dripped of my passion for the study and research of the Universe. Somehow the admissions office brought my application to the attention of the late Dr. Sagan, and he actually took the initiative and care to contact me. He was very inspirational and a most powerful influence. Dr. Sagan was as great as the universe, an effective mentor."

@s1v I dont think so, carl never had any deeper feelings for predetermined patterns of cultural behaviour.
He always knew, that all these things like dogmas, (graveyards) for example, are man made illusions, with no meaning.
Once you are dead you are dead. And dead means the end of everything. There is no stepping on his graveyard, theres just a random space, where he happens to be entombed.

Dun-dundunnnn
Dun-dun-duuuuun!
He went way too soon. If he had just stayed eleven more years, I could have met him. He died near to my birth time.

That is so profoundly sweet, so moving. I met Sagan in the mid 80's. He came to our local university during his non-nuclear proliferation activities. I must have been 14 or 15. There were only about fifty people. The magnitude of the experience has increased as I have grown older and come to realize the gift of that moment.
We lost him too soon. I am comforted knowing we will all someday become food for stars again.

If you search Youtube for: Sagan Ithaca
you'll find other graveside visits by those touched by Carl Sagan.
I'm glad you mentioned the cold war. Personally, i think that's one of his greatest gifts to us- that he used his scientific credibility & celebrity to go straight to the public, warn them of the insane course we were on, and get them to pressure our "leaders" to do the sane thing & back away from the nuclear brink.

I love this man. I find it rather disrespectful that you stood on top of his grave. It's disrespectful to stand on top of anyone's grave.

I can assure you that the guys who shot this video meant no disrespect. They came all the way from Chile - TWICE.
