I learned to fly gliders in the Blanik. I have a soft spot in my heart for this tough old bird. On my first solo I got into a thermal with my instructor in another Blanik. He told me off for doing it, but he had to admit it was good fun! I loved being able to crack the flaps and slow way down in weak thermals.
