Wooly Shambler

can anyone recognize this guy? i sure hope so.

an exercise to learn the maya fur system. fur takes a while to render. still needs a little tweaking on the UV seams.

haha. yeah, i suppose so. he's a monster from quake I; he teleported out of nowhere behind you and then zapped you with lightning bolts.

Although I get the feeling that its kinda lowpoly below the "fur" ?

around 4,000 if i remember correctly, discounting the teeth and toenails. he's actually fully textured and normal mapped (with a multi-million polygon mudbox model to accompany him) underneath all that fuzzy. can't see any of it now.

doesn't make much sense, i know, but originally i planned not to give him any fur. i couldn't resist.

Actually shamblers don't have fur, I know because I saw the official arkwork and they were all skin. :P

shambler fur is longer and more wiry.

Not what he meant, In the description it said he was using an exercise for Maya Fur System

And he recreated the Shambler from Quake

yeh, theres Scourge of Armagon and Dissoultuon of Eternity... the only really scary monsters is Armagon and the Spike Ball... oh and theres a Dragon :)

I never knew Quake had any expansion packs. I need to check that out (once I get my hands on a copy of the original Quake again).
