Part 1 of 2, this video provides a detailed review of the allegation by producers of the documentary, The Cove - that the international dolphin aquarium business is responsible for the Japanese dolphin hunts.
Your logic is very flawed. Do you honestly believe that sea world does not drive up the demand for slaughtering dolphins?! $150,000 s a HUGE incentive for anyone to go out and kill a dolphin. I like your statistics, but your with your third grade logic, you might as well make up those statistics..
I just wanted to point this fact out. Even if only 90 dolphins (or .7%) were taken into captivity, each dolphin is still worth over $150,000. The math comes out to be $13.5 million for the Taiji fishery.
Every single dolphin at all 3 Seaworlds were born there. Obviously they had wild ones to start their program, but it's not like Seaworld is buying these wild caught dolphins; they haven't for over ten years. Without parks like Seaworld no one would give a shit about these animals. Having a few dozen cetaceans such as orcas in captivity that INSPIRE people is worth the millions of dollars they put back to conservation. Few people would donate/help without seeing it for themselves.
This video is nothing more than propaganda by a commercial business whose bottom line is directly dependent on the exploitation of sea mammals. for example, it misconstrues statements made in the cove regarding drive kills by using numbers for all methods of killing dophins.
However though most money makers are a bunch of greedy motherfuckers who just don't care. I forgot that they will never care. They will not stop catching dolphins. Specifically, The Cove is really to wake people up by telling them to not go to dolphin shows. If people choose to acknowledge the fact that dolphin shows is torture for dolphins then there's a chance that Sea World and other dolphin shows will go down. Only if they refuse to go to dolphin shows.
Some of this investigation is a bunch of bullshit. I don't believe the makers of The
Cove are liars. When I watched their film, it's not just about Sea World being a dolphin imprisonment. There are so many dolphin imprisonments all over the world with different names. The Cove is really a wake up call for people everywhere to stop catching dolphins for money making. Both for amusement shows and for their deadly meat not safe to eat because of highest levels of mercury.
@missnoodles996 There is no law in the United States that is specifically designed to protect the welfare of dolphins - rather, the laws in the U.S. seek only to regulate the captivity industry and set up certain guidelines for capturing and confining wild dolphins. There is a widespread belief that it is illegal to capture wild dolphins in the US. Though no permits have been granted for captures since 1989, IT IS STILL LEGAL TO CAPTURE DOLPHINS.

@flgatorfan88 Consistent with the provisions of section 1374 of this title, permits may be
issued by the Secretary for taking, and importation for purposes of scientific research,
public display, photography for educational or commercial purposes, or enhancing the
survival or recovery of a species or stock - extract taken from that very act...

@fingerbun84 It became illegal in the US to capture from the wild 30 years ago, so no, this practice does not continue.
