  • Hi, is the TD20 module fast enough to trigger MIDI? Does it experience any high latency in triggering?

  • Hi,

as far as I´m concerned, the TD20 is one of the most hi-end and reliable module's out there (and priced thereafter) when it comes to recording MIDI. A majority of the Toontrack MIDI grooves included in all our products are recorded through a TD20.

Having a sufficient computer and sound card setup is however also of great significance when it comes to latency.

    /Martin, Toontrack

  • which module you use?

  • I believe it's a Hart Dynamic Pro with TD20 module.

  • i'm really digging that hi-hat ...seriously~

    Best electronic hi-hat ever!

    Does it feature 3-zones though?

  • The hihat is called ECII-12HH. It is dual triggered, according to Hart Dynamics website.

    ಠ_ಠ ;)

  • Looks like you stole those drums

  • @b3nnj1 You probably know all about the TD20 since you posted this question but I just bought a TD20 and Im triggering superior 2.0.I was using a TD8 before.I can tell you there is a huge difference in the triggering sensitivity, dynamics and expression. The TD8 doesn't even come close to the TD20's triggering capability. The down side was the cost.Even tho I bought it just to trigger drum libraries,The internal sounds are not that bad.And theres no machine gun effect on snare buzz.Hope this helps

  • So would one hafta get something like the TD20 in order to use Toontracks? Currently I have a Hart Dynamics kit I've never used but can't afford to shell out a grand or so for the TD-20 AND then Toontracks. If there are alternatives please let me know!

  • SD2 is amazing, but it no way getting around the latency playing in real time.... the limitation lies in the midi-protocol itself. midi-spec is from 1983....The only way to zero latency and acoustic feel is an all in one kit using direct-to-sample triggering such as the 2box Drumit Five

  • Awesome and very convincing sound! Nir Z. is not only a killer drummer, but also way underrated. I have seen many vids - he did a fantastic job with Genesis live in the late 90s. I guess the fact that this was a bad call in general (not his fault!) might have hurt the career of this brilliant drummer. I wish him all the luck for the future! Perhaps a couple of gigs with Tower of Power? That'll be something else!

  • Nice playing.

  • tasty

  • Wow, that is some precise drumming. Most impressive. Flowing and still just absolutely perfect. Much cred.
