In this video series I'll walk you through how to brew all grain beer. I keep it simple so as not to overwhelm the viewer, especially with all grain brewing. All grain brewing can be simple or complex, I take the former and apply it to the video. Points of discussion are doughing in, mashing, batch sparging and fly sparging, water to grain ratio, skimming hot break.

  • Call me crazy, call me a dick. I'm sorry but it seems your sanitation and brewing practices are pitiful to me.

  • @fatsachs

Out of the dozens of batches of beer I made, never had a problem with sanitation. Remember, it's AFTER you brew the beer where sanitation is THE most important thing. Anything before the boil doesn't matter.

  • Where did you get your pump from? I need to put in a pump but it needs to be suitable for potable water cause lots of pumps have grease in them so you don't want that getting into your beer.

  • @Crypticx666

It's a march impeller pump. I got mine at a yard sale for $50! What a deal. You can do a search on google and find them relatively easy. Thanks.

What are you talking about? The 5 pieces of loose grain that's in the bottom of the tun?

  • wow to much hard work iam stickin with kits

  • @benshomebrew yes it does... it has to do with clarity and taste. Sure you might not get fungus or anything but there is a reason why breweries keep everything sterile preboil

  • At about 7 minutes in, you describe how "clear" it is. What do you mean by this? It looks very brown to me. What is the purpose of the vorlauf? Thanks for keeping it simple. BTW, thanks for keeping it simple. You've boosted my confidence that I can make the switch to all-grain.

  • You rock ben. You showed me how simple all grain can be. You ggave me confidence to jump in.

  • @fatsachs You are crazy, and possibly a dick. Fact is the boiling process kills all bacteria. So if it's "CLEAN" before boiling you will be fine. It's AFTER brewing that sanitation is key!

  • honey smoked porter, that is one of those beer names that makes your mouth water

  • Makes me want to get a pump.

  • I can see dirty floating around in the bottom of the cooler when you filled it with water....
