  • Whoa where did you get those huge match's

  • @HDCYTFAN They are grill lighting matches that you can get at China-Mart, K-mart, Target, or many larger grocery stores.

  • Esbit cubes are supposed to take 8 minutes to boil water and burn for 13 minutes. also the stove has those holes for oxygen and the wind won't effect it much.

    I am interested in the pop can stove boiling water in 3 to 4 minutes I would like to see that

  • @packrat557 I will be trying to get back to this stove. I am interested in what a couple of folks have mentioned about the alcohol stove being used, sticks, etc. I will work on it. Thanks for the info on the Esbit tabs. They are a new product for me, but I did use them to make coffee with my Crusader water bottle setup, while dove hunting in the field yesterday. They work great!

  • Hey Faol, that stove looks like it could be a great wood stove. Maybe stick some twigs in there. Have you tried that?

  • No, I haven't tried that yet, but I will be checking that out when I check the alcohol stove use as well. Thanks.

  • Esbit is harmful!!! Especially in rooms.

    You remember Zyklon B---> holocaust?

    prussic acid/ hydrocyanic acid/ hydrogen cyanide and so on.

  • If you're looking for a multi-fuel stove with great proven reliability, check out the Optimus Svea 123R. Just bought one and it works great. It's on the heavy side, if you're counting grams, but for hiking or backpacking, it's great.

  • @faolbushcraft Ok thanks.

  • @12marinecorp I have had the Brunton Flex stove for about 3 years, and those types of cookers are great as long as you have access to the fuel. The Isobutane is more costly, only available in larger towns (relevant if backpacking), and is only efficient above 25*.

    There are many options out there and I don't know that any one of them is the best. Alcohol is more efficient at lower temps, but will not go as low as white gas. Unfortunately, white gas stoves are more bulky and higher weight.

  • GREAT VIDEO AND IM SHURE YOU FIGURED THIS OUT THAT ESBIT ONLY LITES TO A EXPOSED FLAME.... GREAT VIDEO I SUBED

  • Esbit doesn't take a flame easily, you have to hold a flame on it for about ten seconds.

  • it does not work with flint thats what sucks about it

  • Looks like a good cook kit/stove. I recommend that you use a windscreen whenever you use Esbit even with this stove. Any wind at all has a negative effect on Esbit. Also, if you would like to carry more tabs with you just take them out of their blister packs and wrap each tab in foil and throw them in a ziplock.
