Although not credited in the final version of "Elephants Walk" (William Dieterle, 1952), long shots of Vivien Leigh still rythm the whole film. To be treasured by her many fans... Everyone now, knows about her story and mental breakdown in Ceylon, that had her to be replaced by Elizabeth Taylor. Never did the Gates of Heaven open wider on personnal Hell !

@tanguy200 Wow, all this time I thought she was only in the arrival scenes at the airport. Thanks for pointing out the others, I'm definitely going to have to watch again. I would love to know if any of the other footage with her dialogue, close shots, etc are still around. They may yet turn up some day.

@Taharah007 Are you joking? He was so NOT! Larry was the love of Vivien's life undoubtedly. How anyone can think otherwise is laughable and beyond me.

Peter Finch was really the love of Vivian's life, but unfortunately it did not work out for them. She was taken "ill" and replaced by look alike Elizabeth Taylor, who played the role beautifully.

Well C. this is not rare stuff at all ! All this footage actually appears in the final version of the movie. If you have the DVD, just check it ! I simply wonder where is all the remaining footage, on what shelf, and if it will be shown one day...

The madness of the elephants, smashing to pieces the crystal palace of all vanities and elegances, seems to me perfectly echoing the dark forces that threaten all human experiences. Specially true for Vivien Leigh. I think.
