The Honor with Art project was started in 2005 and after all this time, it is still hanging in limbo. The idea was to create this wonderful "altered book" using donated artwork from artists around the world, then to auction it off with proceeds going to charities who advocate for missing and exploited children.

The easy part has been finished for some time. Christie's even offered to supply us with an auctioneer once we find a venue. But the venue is the hard part. This is no small piece of art--I feel we need some publicity and I'm just not as much of a marketing expert as I thought I was. I have written numerous letters, made as many phone calls, sent out emails galore, and have had very little response as far as finding endorsement, and a venue. But I have had some good publicity in the meantime.

I had to put the project on hold for awhile, but it is finally being resurrected after the long hiatus. I still need help finding a place to auction this beautiful collaborative altered book.

Sadly, we have lost one of our participants, and I'm taking the loss very personally. MMicky Shine was killed in a car accident on the morning of February 12, 2012. He was one of the first people who sent me work. MMicky was known for his work with the San Francisco cult band, Clover; and the band Tommy Tutone. Clover was Elvis Costello's band on his first tour to the U.S., and they were credited as The Shamrocks on his first record, My Aim is True. He was an incredible drummer. But he was also an amazing artist. You can see his work right here on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/mmicky .

I received some publicity through Nancy Grace when I was chosen as one of her Extraordinary Parent finalists, and although you can no longer see the video, you can still see the page with finalists' details: http://articles.cnn.com/2008-02-01/us/NancyGraceExtraordinaryParentContestFin...

This book was created on behalf of missing and exploited children. Work was donated by Robert Pollard, Tobin Sprout, Robert Scott, Graeme Downes, Misty Mawn, Chris Knox, Alec Bathgate, Gaylene George, Gianmarco Liguori, Leyline, MMIcky Shine, & many more.
