The emptiness of an abandoned textile factory; a place to get lost in. A quiet humming fills the space; the emptiness reverberates in the distance. A dancer carries out a dialogue with Hans van Koolwijk's music machines. Automobile wrecks make a sinister backdrop as well as a rewarding collection of percussion instruments. The Slovenian rock band Broken Lock combines delicate, wispy songs with background noises. Students, percussionists and a choir of 60 singers are all dispersed amongst the audience and make music that seems to be everywhere, as if it spontaneously erupted out of space. Locally scouted vocal talent is offered the chance to perform solo in vocal music in which even the audience, unprepared, is invited to participate. The Bulgarian singer Galina Durmushliyska has a starring role as traditional sounds combine with the rough rock music. In the end, the musical battle between man and machine remains unresolved.

I was there too, some seriously cool performance. Half the crowd was actually performer, so you would be watching some stuff and suddenly the person next to you would start doing something too. Very weird, but also very nice!

Ik heb hier aan meegedaan, echt een super optreden. Merlijn's projecten zijn echt zo gaaf, altijd een beetje anders dan andere en met zoveel mooie nieuwe invloeden! Altijd de moeite waard!
