It's great to see news pioneer Cassie Mackin.

Why is Roger Mudd being such a dick? Is he still bitter he didn't get the anchor job instead of Rather

@SteffiReitsch I have vivid memories of your cousin Cassie Mackin. I remember her working with Tom Brokow at the convention. If you're searching for more clips of her, I suggest you try these two soruces: NBC Universal Archives and Thought Equity.

What a seemingly benign clip from the good ol' days. Is it any wonder Mr. Kissinger and his cronies were having such a good time? Who knew. Really tho, who knew what the outcome was already going to be, even then. I was so hoping he was going to say THEY were going to "adopt a Baby",..when out came the man behind the Harmonica. =P

@slash177 Amazing you would ask about Cassie Mackin. I always wondered about her myself. She made an impression on me. You're right...it seems she HAS been forgotten. I remember she was beautiful. I just read she died very young. Funny....I don't remember reading at the time that she had died.

@leitchee I don't remember if he was there; he was focused on the Democrats, since Nixon was a shoo-in for the Republican nomination.
We caught a brief moment of Catherine Mackin, my cousin, in this video. Catherine was a famous ,well respected tv journalist. She died in 1982 at age 43. She was on national tv almost every night reporting and everyone knew her. She is now all but forgotten by the public. All of us will eventually be forgotten. GET USED TO IT.

@SteffiReitsch Glad you found your cousin. You can watch the full documentary, Four More Years, at the link in the description above--they interviewed her several times and there's some great footage of her. It's a fascinating look at the place and time, and Mackin's trailblazing work as one of the few female TV journalists of that era.

Does anybody have any more video of Cassie Mackin? It is almost impossible to find any video on her. Seems that she has been forgotten.

@slash177 There's not much more, but if you watch the full 1972 documentary, Four More Years, at the links in the description above, there are a few more minutes with Cassie Mackin.

Douglas Kiker doesn't appear in this piece. The second person is Tom Pettit, who was another correspondent for NBC at the time.
