  • Big problem if you use this and aren't as large as Russell because your weight won't be evenly distributed and you'll fall over to one side, maybe even injuring your hip or shoulder. NOT for small or medium build kayakers or in anything but bathtub calm surf.

  • I have used this method of entry into my kayak for years. It works.

  • lets see that again on a sloping boat ramp! :P

  • Russel is able to get his legs in AFTER he drops his hips into the cockpit. I'm not sure if my legs are too long or my cockpit is too small, but I couldn't do that. I have to put my legs in first, and at that moment while I'm still sitting on the rear deck my center of gravity is very high. It's a nice way to get in if you can do it, but it won't work for everyone.

  • That technique to getting out of the boat is ultra-unstable, and can be dangerous for many paddlers, in that, it would be virtually impossible to do in even a little bit rougher or waver conditions. It is convenient that the instructors demonstrate in unrealistically flat-calm water; let me see Russell perform that in some beach surf like most people would be.

  • actually this is also "expert village" even though this vid. sucks a bit less...

  • thanks ...much better than "expert village" vids keep up the good work.

  • Three big problems:

    1. The cockpit use to be smaller, so you can introduce your legs.

    2. Too much load over the cockpit is very bad for your kayak. You will broke it!!.

    3. You loose your stability for a while.

  • Clear explanation of a necessary step I have been missing. Thanks!

  • Lol i just like seeing russel being ordered around.. he just takes it in his stride :P...
