The current economic crisis in the US began in the housing sector. Banks have foreclosed on millions of houses throughout the country, and many now lie vacant.

But one group of activists in Miami says the banks, which received billions in bailouts, must let the community use the homes.

They are taking the law into their own hands and moving homeless families into empty properties.

  • Maybe one of those banks can give us a job? Experienced house sitter maybe...lol Will take care of several vacant homes in exchange for food and shelter.

  • @OurFadedGarden I am a homeowner who has never had any other debt, yet I am heartly sorry I allowed myself to be taken in by even that one form of slavery.

  • This should be done in mass! All neighbors of the new residents should block the authorities from removing them in a non violent way. America has been asleep, but we are waking up now.

  • Something is out-of-whack. I never had kids because I could not afford to have kids...

    ???

  • @annonline1968 Deadbeat dads.

  • @annonline1968 I understand the responsibilities of society. i have no debts. i pay my bills. i have a perfect credit score. But there are times when ppl are in the same position as you and me and could have it all taken away. that mother looks responsible. she has 4 healthy looking children. there comes times when accidents or health situations occure leaving someone jobless and homeless. money is only valuable because we give it value. happiness is a value that nowone should price.

  • @wanderingpimp Personal responsibility includes not wasting the money you have on junk food and decorator items. Obviously, if you spent your money on junk instead of paying for your home, you deserve to lose the home to foreclosure. It's past time to end the entitlement mentality. You are responsible for paying each and every financial obligation that you sign. If you can't afford to buy a house, you should rent what you can afford. No one is entitled to a house, it's something you earn.

  • @annonline1968 do you really not fuking understand reality? society is in the shitter and theres tons of families made homeless not because they sit on there asses. they could be homeless for all sorts of reasons. for u to go and critisize that woman when u know that everyone goes and buys usless sh*t like nicknacks and mcdonalds when this women is trying her best to raise those kids. People like u who are educated by a computer screen and not by xperience are socialy retarded.

  • Why does this woman have children that she can't feed, clothe, and shelter? Why should anyone else pay to shelter her family? Why doesn't she act like an adult and take responsibility for her family instead of acting like banks and taxpayers owe her a living?

  • This isn't good at all. I know the guys heart is in the right place, and I honestly can't blame him with the crap that goldman, JP morgan and citi have done I hope people continue to realize this is still wrong. Hungry people can't go into your freezer to retrieve food you've left in there so long it seems like you'd never use it.

What gets people working together productively for each other is the exchange of their production between themselves.

Again I can't blame him for this.

  • You and me live in the same place. Please remember K Rudd did promise ABO in the NT. However he has not delivered on his PROMISE.
