@Kaldary Well they weren't religious. It is less "evil' and more "unclean". The Bible has several passages that clearly state a menstruating woman is unclean, that she should stay away from religious places lest she contaminate them, and that people are not suppose to come in contact with her.
That is irrespective of any supposed mental illness on the part of Mrs. White's.

To me, Mrs. White comes across more as someone who has a mental illness. Like something very traumatic happened in her childhood. I've never met a religious person that thinks having a period is evil. I'm not defending her or anything. She is unfit to be a mother, and Carrie shoud have been removed from that house a long time ago.
