TOFINO - A fierce storm has slammed into Vancouver Island with winds so strong, power was knocked out and ferry sailings were suspended.
Along some waterfront areas, roads had to be closed as waves came crashing up onto the shore.
While many of us run for cover during weather like this, people in Tofino head outdoors.
Storm-force winds and heavy rain battered the west coast today, with waves so high that dozens of beaches and trails were barricaded so that storm-watchers would stay back.
Storm watching season in Tofino is officially underway.
