Video of Seibertron.com's MIB and MISB Transformers Collection damaged from Chicago flood after massive storm rolled through dumping almost 7 inches of rain in two hours (that's a TON of rain) setting the record for a one day total in Chicago's history.

The toys, for the most part, were able to be salvaged from the MIB and MISB packaging. Most of the sticker sheets were salvaged as well. Some of the figures suffered rust damage from the water (such as screws and pins) but nothing too major has cropped up.

Sewer system backed up, roads flooded out, etc.

18" of water in lowest point in my basement.

  • Phosphoric acid is cheap and removes rust from screws easy; do you have any plans to repair the damaged boxes?

  • @opsimathics Boxes are long gone ... tossed to the curb four months ago.

Do you know where you can get phosphoric acid?

  • Man those crickets or other bugs in the background sound crazy in this video. I know they get loud at night, but this sounds nights. Kind of makes it sound eerie. Yikes!

  • ahh that's funny. now c'mon, have the rest of the camera crew jump out the bushes and show off the real collection

  • @shockmatter LOL

  • I'm so sorry Ryan! Best of luck to you.

  • thanks! @mantis999999999

  • Sorry for your loss dude! :(

  • @Rhynoseiber It's sold as "rust remover" in any hardware store. I recomend you also buy a small flask with lid (it releases vapours). Just clean them manually as best as you can and then dip them in a solution for a period of 24 hours. The rust precipitates off the screws (you will notice residues accumulating near the top of the flask's lid). This method will remove the paint off the screws, in case they were to begin with.

  • That blows....did you have your collection insured?

  • That sucks!

  • I don't think I would be able to do this kind of video...

Didn't even happen to me, and I feel like I'm gonna be sick.

  • I feel your pain. I had a water line break 3 weeks ago that pretty much took out some of my collection as well. Had to open most of the MIB stuff. It sucks. Still fixing my basement. Hope things will get better for you.

  • This is terrible, I am so sorry Ryan, this is a terrible thing to happen to such an amazing collector in the TF community. You have my deepest sympathies. I hope you are insured for damage like this. I shudder to think of how much money went into this.

  • Ryan I'm so sorry that happened. I really hope things turn around for you and quick. Be well sir.
