@kawikatube what has this got to do with what I just said? Notepad, Calc & Media Player are all applications. Utility software is system software designed to help analyse, configure, optimize or maintain a computer, they are still applications though.

CPL files are simply tools within the control panel and dynamic link libraries are way to package and or distribute libraries of code or resources or both with a software.

Do you even have a point or do you just want to know?

@kawikatube Windows Features...why does that marketing terminology matter? The the word 'feature' is used in marketing and by the general public as simply a label for any number of things. These things could be software, a usability feature, support for a new hardware, A cornucopia of different things.

You seem here to be confused as to your purpose. On the one hand you are trying to say Calc isn't an application, on the other you are bringing up things I never said were apps.

@MarlonJohno Generally mac users think that they need to segregate the different functions of a device into different devices, so to read a book they use an iPad, to make a call they use an iPhone, to do 'computer' based apps they use their Mac, to do the same on the move they use their laptop, to play games they use a console.
