The Postal Corporation of Kenya is now an agent of the ZAP mobile money transfer service provided by Zain. With the signing of the deal, all 800 Posta outlets can now transact money transfer services on behalf of ZAP. Zain Kenyas Managing Director Rene Meza says the deal will increase the number of ZAP agents to 3,800 countrywide. This will also give ZAP customers the benefit of paying their electricity bills and DSTV Pay TV subscriptions. Zain customers can send as little as 50 shillings to as much as 35,000 shillings in a single transaction at a cost of 10 shillings per transaction. However, it is now clear how Posta intends to position its money transfer service, Posta Pay, against competition from ZAP.
