well if you're really wanting to achieve photorealism I guess it's ok to use all those tools to help you blending. On the other hand, it made me feel not so artistic anymore. I once tried the circular methode for skin texture, it takes ages and I'm more of a fast emtional drawer. I draw to feel good and because I like it, not for getting the perfect portrait. I just don't have the patience for that :-s

@dellieke yeah and now I'm trying to learn how to draw againnnnnN... I feel I'm doing everything wrong when I'm drawing fee hand and creating tones... I feel as though I need a reference photo, the grid, etc..

@dishy200 I had the same feeling some years ago. It feels like you're betraying yourself for using 'helpful tools' doesn't it?

I used to not use any tools back before and then I discovered all these people using blenders, erasers , etc for different techniques....now I confused myself and can't even draw properly

@theartprodigy if he is your idol. tell hem to teach us . why is he keeping evbery thing for hem. i asked hem 2 years back and kept asking hem with no answer. IDOL Ha !

he uses no tools either. no erasers no blenders nothing. pencil only.

he's using a technique calling circulism discovered by Maggie Toole he just making a little circles when he's shading , a portrait like that could take from him 10 months or more !
