LYRICS:
Too early to be awake
But it's outa' my hands
Too much thinkin' goin' on
More than I can stand

So I get up and shuffle downstairs
And pick up this wooden box
That gets me through these times
Without it I'd be lost

Just cycling over and over
What I coulda' done better than I did
In the old days we'd take some Zig Zags
And roll some up outa' the lid
------------------------------
But that don't work for me now
Gotta take it like a sober man
Don't need those crutches
To lead me by the hand

So I play it straight and unimpaired
No cloud over my brain
Gotta call it like I see it
Nothing to mask the pain

Brother you know the feeling
It's a part of every life
Grappling with your problems
Gotta take it all in stride
----------------------------
Tryin' to make my peace
Knowing I can't control
Other peoples' feelings
That's how I rock and roll

Sure I wish you could take things back
But it's a waste of your resources
Cuz you can't change the past
Got to fight off your remorses

Let go of what you can
Hold dear to what you believe
It's a rocky dusty road we travel
Best to take it slow and easy

  • You are very good with words great tune!

  • @fngrpkn06 Very much appreciated, Sir! Jam on, and I will too!

  • Thanks for sharing. I hope I can come close to playing like that someday.

  • @drummingriver My friend, you certainly can. What a tremendously great compliment. You don't know how much your comment means to me. We all start from exactly the same place. Clapton did, too. I just play as much as I can because I love it so much. YouTube and an inexpensive camera (I use a Canon Powershot SX10 IS), give you the opportunity to really hone your skills because you learn from each video.

  • @drummingriver You notice I do it bare bones and as simply as possible in my crowded little office. Here's how I view writing and playing music: "A blessing, a curse, an obsession, a calling, a JOY." You will keep getting better and better the more you play, that is a guarantee. And most of all, if I can do it, so can YOU! --Grant

  • Spoken like a true "Man of Steel"!

  • @lynniesman It takes one to know one. YOU are thee original Man of Steel, Homes. I've learned from the best. And yes, I still write "The Move" on my palm. It'll always be the counter-clockwise swirl forever.

  • @gbgerver I've been messing with it for a number of years now and cannot get fluid like you. I do like the idea of video. I've never considered watching myself play and learning from that. Thank you.
