I don't doubt that people can use YT to create community, just as other groups do online. The "feeling" of community or at least the feeling of belonging is probably equal to or greater than some people can feel in real life, sine you don't necessarily know like minded people in your physical location. But I have doubts about how stable these communities are, they are more voluntary because you don't have to be on YT. There can also be lots of intrusion from non-community members, like haters.

Probably hardly stable at all. Does this matter?

I think it does matter, because if the community disappears than there is no community. Especially if people are forging significant friendships, time is needed to sustain deep emotional attachments like shown in the video.

Your use of YouTube videos as research and proof is compelling. As is true for the other cyber/reality group, I am now interested in learning the distinctions in expectations, norms, styles, and behavior in YouTube friendships, certainly real, but different?

I think that this video makes a very interesting point. There are people on YouTube trying to make there own community and believe they are doing so. I find it interesting that the people feel that their cyber-life is real. Yes, it is something real going on in there life, but it is very limited and somewhat impersonal. It still falls under the classification of cyber-life.
