Harper can't do anything about high oil prices which is set by several commodity exchanges, incl NY mercantile. The super liberal Obama and his Administration are refusing to issue policy directives that would drop the world oil price. In fact, he has said he is happy with rising prices as it will spur more interest in alternative energies and fuels which is a myth, a very long way from being viable

@genie0390 Do you really think that Harper or the Conservatives can take credit for Canada's economy? Personally I don't think it makes a difference who is PM, the economy will go with the flow of the global economy we are part of. The commodity based economy can only take us so far. The markets will be like a roller coaster ride for a few months, up and down, and by the fall it's anybodies guess what will happen.

The Alberta WCB in 2009, had an increase of appeals of 110%, there was a rebate given back to buisinesses to the tune of 120 million. How? THEY DENY SERIOUS CLAIMS, they give bonuses to the claim managers to close valid claims. WCB is a mandated private insurance injured workers, instead it protects corporations. There are Canadian injured workers losing their children, comitting suicide, or dieing without treatment. This is a human rights violation and was not discussed, by anyone.

Having a high dollar does nothing when cost of living is too high and minimum wage had to sky rocket to keep up... making minimum wagers like too expensive for small business owners to keep employed. Canadians are still paying double for imported goods because "we're used to it".

You have a long list of excellent points but let's face it, whether you (or I) like it or not, this election really IS about Harper having a criminal working for him and Harper's people ejecting people from his rally based on a Facebook photo. This election really is about Iggy having American ties, and Iggy denouncing a racist while embracing a sexist. This election is about the Greens not being allowed to debate and about Jack Layton promising things he will never have the chance to deliver.
