Here is Billy Murray (1877-1954), one of the most popular singers on Gramophone records during the first two decades of the 20th Century, singing "I wonder who's kissing her now" from the Musical "The Prince of To-Night" composed by Joseph Howard. The record is an original Victor 10" 78rpm from 1909, and this 100 year old recording is being played on a Victor Type II Gramophone from 1905.

  • Thank you for your kind comments. What makes the condition of this record even more remarkable is the fact that it has a store sticker on it that indicates it was originally sold by a Victor dealer in San Francisco, and some how over the years found its way to the east coast where I am located.

  • I must've been born in the wrong time. The music back then was so much better than the stuff they try to pass off as music now. Life just seemed better back then.

  • just beautiful, just beautiful-they do NOT make music like this anymore.i love this song

  • how much dose that thing weigh anyways

  • Though I agree this music is great, I don't believe it is 'better' than it is now. Music is a matter of taste. People tend to look at the past through rose coloured glasses - this song was released 5 years before The Great War when over 15 million people lost their lives in conflict in 4 years. In 1918, over 50 million died from Spanish Flu - do you really think you were born at the wrong time? Though everything isn't rosy now, it's an amazing time to live & listen to music for a lot of us.

  • 50 cent is better !

  • Great Billy Murray, both the disk as the gramophone are in a fantastic state of preservation, congratulations!

  • I was born in the wrong era.:'(

  • how many gramophones does he have?

  • Old songs touch the heart. They make you feel so much better

  • I really appreciate how many of Billy's recordings have shown up here. The first one I heard was The Little Old Ford which was on a great compilation of novelty tunes. I like this one as well so thanks for sharing it. Very unique and happily acquired taste!

  • @victrolaman Hey, I'm in love with Victrolas, and i was considering buying one off of Amazon, I don't know if you have any of knowledge of this, but is that a good idea? or do you know of ways to get a better one easier?
