I store 5 gallons of water treated heavily with Sodium BiSulfate preservative (undrinkable, but also anti-microbial) for indefinite years of storage in case of emergency

The Katadyn Survivor then pumps fresh water from the preserved water during emergencies.

no bringing the water to a boil will kill most things in the water.. now if you were 20,000ft above sea level its a diffrent story but bringing it to a roaring boil then stoping its already killed everything its the temp that does it..
