  • WHATS THE MATTER WITH THAT PRETTY BLUE RING NECKS WINGS AND BACK. ? IS THAT MOLTING ?

  • @christinecassin No the white bits that you are seeing are white feathers/downs - the ones on the back of his neck is part of his "ring".

  • We got Hoogie when he was approx 8 weeks old, from a breeder who hand raised him. As such he is very attached to us. And yes Hoogie has gone through the biting phase, as all ringnecks do, and in fact he still show that behaviour once a year! The good thing is that he is very good otherwise and also he hasn't bitten any visitors yet!

  • Well no they are generally not aggressive at all, at least not for Hoogie (my Blue IRN). Hoogie really "bonds" with my wife, but wen I'm around he won't attack or bite me, just that he he has a choice he will always go to my wife first! -:( Actually he's fine with us both, just that he prefers the Mrs!

  • Well, for a start, both of them are males. And Hoogie is definitely the more talkative one, as Spike doesn't talk - he only whistles.

I wouldn't really use the word aggressive, as neither of them are aggressive outright. However, I must say that Spike is more bossy one of the two -:)

  • how do they get along so well ? i have a female Ringneck and a Cockatiel too but they hate each other....and what do you feed them they look so healthy ?

  • Well, the do have their fair share of fights.. Hoogie the IRN tends to be more "affectionate" and usually wants to get near Spike the Cockatiel, but Spike sometimes doesn't like it..! :) But overall they get along OK.

I feed them mainly cockatiel seed mix, supplemented with cockatiel pellets. They also have some of our "human foods", i.e. cooked rice, vegetable, eggs etc.
