Holy Fuck, I'm amazed at how similar of a situation I have to yours. My mom is so forceful, signing me up for the randomest shit ever. I totally agree on how when you're not forced to do something, you learn a lot easier. I played piano since I was 2- 13. After I quit I was so happy and thought I would never go back. However, in my junior year of High School, I heard a beautiful piece of piano, wanted to go back, and learned piano fluently. So true!

Forcing is a good way to expose one to something they are unfamiliar with, they might like it. Well it also depends on how proactive the kid is, and how much resource they have access to. I was a stupid kid so I kind of needed that, but my parents never did that to me. Go figure...
