The initial music was raw guaguanco (no melodious instruments / horns/piano) and they dance onbeat which is correct. But then the songs turned to mix with salsa arrangement, but it retains the guaguanco beat, which means Rumba Clave (NOT Son Clave) is still in effect - onbeat. It will be awkward (latin musicians call it "montar" wrong mounting) musically if you were to dance on2 (Contra tiempo or Son Clave 2/3) for this song. Can someone clarify?
@mambosalsa101 Respond to this video... Portpedros is correct. We who have seen many non-american real stuff have seen the truth. Abakua is an all male fraternity, it have its own music and even its own dance movements. Yet i see nothing here --The soul is greatly missing. Go do some research, search rumba-guaguanco.. the music is guaguanco but no guaguanco! This looks fake... sorry but kudos for trying though.
@ portpedros You are ridiculous!! Frankie Martinez is the bomb! He has danced all around the world and has had a PBS documentary done on his school. before you become a critic you should know what your talking about LONG LIVE FRANKIE AND ABAKUA!!!
This only lack of respect for real Cuban Rumba what it respresents for the whole Cuban culture. They do not have the faintest idea of what they are dancing.
The choreography was amazing.
