Our front yard after three days of straight white out conditions. Freshuan in the house. (If anyone would like some perspective... Stewart is the guy probing the snow and on the sled. He's six six. That's tall) Also, another note... This piece is unecessarily long but I don't care because I really enjoy just watching the sky fall on us. Just be glad that I didn't leave the camera on for an hour in the snow and ask you to watch it... Wait a minute: You don't have to watch this. Click next or whatever if you don't like big, big snow.

  • what does Freshuan mean???

  • @burns488 Freshuan is slang for the Celtic god of fresh snow.

  • How does South Lake Tahoe at 6300 ft compare with truckee at 6000 for snowfall?

  • Quite similar. Some storms favor either side of the lake, but in the end... It's all pretty much the same. Truckee definitely wins for quality of living though... Some of the best backcountry in the nation is in Truckee's backyard.

  • I miss Truckee... Oh man do I miss the big Freshuan.

  • where in truckee do u live in where was this?

  • That's incredible and it looks like tons of fun. The dog looks like he/she was diggin' it too. Thanks for sharing that!

  • i love truckee, although it is not my home. Farminton NM here. All four seasons here, not enough snow, not cold enough in the winter. Bark beetles are wiping out the pinon trees because of the mild winters in the last decade. its a great area for the outdoorperson. i have read quite abit of the Donner history, i would like to find Mrs donners gold coin stash, supposedly somewhere along the north side of the lake.
