It was a two-hour ride from Volubilis to Fes/Fez, Morocco's cultural capital and probably the oldest of the Imperial Cities. Olives groves brightened the ride along with countless men riding donkeys in the same fashion they have ridden for eons.

Dropped at the Hotel Batha in the center of old Fes/Fez, we walked two blocks away into the heart of the old city for a fast dinner and look see. Walked through the Bab Boujiloud Gate ("bab" means gate) that's green mosaics on one side and blue on the other and gawked at the streets. An intensive, and extensive, day of sightseeing was in store tomorrow...
