Conan O'Brien, 12/27/94 - 1/2 - The segment begins with an "infomercial" performed by "Chachkas" ('How to Improve your Memory', with the unmistakable voice of Robert Smigel doing ALL the voices!!!) Tony Randall comes out with a bag of Eagle Pretzels, and chats about The National Actors Theater and his "Odd Couple" TV movie with Jack Klugman. (A nice memory for Tony Randall fans).

  • "rockettgirl45" posted, (and I accidentally removed):

    "But couldn't they have prerecorded the infomercial? They did have that technology in the 90s, right?"

  • Is that Andy with Smigel?

  • You mean in the memory infomercial? I 'm pretty sure all the voices are Smigel, not only because they have his distinctive sound and style, but Andy was sitting on the couch.

  • oh right.cool

  • LOL! Smigel did the voices of almost every character on Conan. But if you watch Conan and Ira, his publicist, would you guess that that was also Smigel?! I couldn't believe it when I found out.

  • @CantStayAway friggin hilarious XP

  • I actually remember seeing that special he's talking about, with the talking toilet...:P:P

  • Okay, here we go:

    1) Just because they had the technology - obviously!! - it doesn't mean it WAS prerecorded;

    2) If you look at the entire video, you can

    clearly it was being done live, with Smigel off to the side - where he does his "onscreen" bits. When Conan comes back on, again, along with the audience reaction, you can clearly see there was no cut, etc., to indicate some kind of pre-recorded bit.

    3) And, again, these voices were all Smigel - no Andy.

    Any more questions?

  • Thanks for posting.

  • If you read the "info" to the right, I mentioned that it's Robert Smigel, the voice of Triumph.

  • the voice(s) in the infomercial sound like they could've been done by the guy who does triumph...
