This is a trio of Splash tetras laying and fertalizing eggs outside of the water. They leap onto a hard surface outside the water and lay their eggs. The adults then splash them with water to stop them drying out.

  • interesting fish.

I've never heard of these tetras.

  • @TimmyGal You mean a Riparium. Paludariums would be dangerous for them.

  • Those are beautiful fish!! Unfortunately they are not readily available here in the USA. And if you want to keep them, your best bet is in a paludarium.

  • Wow, thats incredible how they jump like that

  • +1 I'd like to know too

  • If you're in the UK, try Southern Aquatics Poole Dorset - they've had nice specimens before.

  • wow those are amazing splashers I would love to keep them but I dont have the room nor can i find any

  • Your Splashers are goregous! I had four..unfortunately I have only one left..I wish I could find more..they are kinda scarce around here..I have one male..its funny..he used to hide a lot when he was in a heavily planted 20L..now he's in a 46Bowfront with plastic plants and he's out more..he also looks bigger. Weird..

  • where can i buy some splashing tetras and what are there water like?

  • i never seen a fish like that.. thats pretty cool
