The video depicts Miyamoto Musashi developing the two-sword style. His instant victory in the duel shows him that fighting with one sword is a dead end--even though he's the best at it. Someone will eventually equal him. So he innovates. The video subtly alludes to the story that drummers inspired Musashi. Meanwhile the percussion is getting slightly more complex, paralleling Musashi's evolution.
I can't think of a better narrative pairing of visuals and music.
