The Scorpene submarines have been developed by a French-Spanish joint venture of DCN-Izar shipbuilders. Two units were delivered to the Chilean Navy in 2006 and two more will be delivered to the Malaysian Navy in 2009. In 2005, India placed an order for six Scorpene submarines, they will be delivered between 2012 and 2017.
Scorpene = more expensive version of Agosta class SSK, People bus this stuff because easier to get a kick back from non German companies. Purchasing ssk is always simple equations: Buy Germans.

@Zed1406 Actually, not that it 'can't' due to being ruined/cheap - but it's pending the Navy's orders. Subs aren't supposed to submerge without orders.
Unless another country is trying to start shit with the home country, then will the orders given to submerge.

Scorpene: old Technology, Sponsors by French goverment, Not able to go to war wtih that. I prefer German U212 or U214 :)

And i agree the sub showed on this vid its an Agosta class not a Scorpene. Cause maybe when they directed this vid the first Scorpen where still in production.

@Zed1406 Who can't dive??? France and the others nations operators actualy Chile and Malaysia next India and Brazil have no problems at all. I think you refereing of the type 214 sub made by Germans who have many problems with the version sold for the Greeks. Don't mistaking the Scorpene for the type 214 used by Greeks, Koreans and Portugueses they are two different subs using both different AIP systems.

its no more French-Spanish but full French, Spain left the program to create their own AIP Submarine project called S-80, using Bioethanol to create Hydrogen and fed fuel cells.
