  • could two propane tanks be used? opposite sides painted black to assure the expanding gas can equalize its weight after being heated by the sun in any direction? i heard L.E.Ds have an interesting phenomena when the sun shines on them, a slight voltage can be detected. An LED array with the proper relays could be a cheaper, and I should say more compact, alternative.

    Great videos friend!

  • @honestcheetah I don't know, you could give it a try, I guess. The most advanced dripper tracker is the "liquid piston tracker" . You can find diagrams on the solar cookers world network. I have not made one yet, too busy at work this year to do solar stuff.

  • You could use a shade bar, a couple of op-amps, two photo transistors, a stepper motor, a solar panel, and a battery to make an automated sun tracking system for this device. It would reduce the space needed and track the sun without relying on the grid or a clock. I have the plans somewhere. I'll see if I can find them. Send me a response so that I have your email and I'll send you the plans.

  • @jkrush28 By all means make your tracker. My aim is to produce alternative methods for people who cannot afford shade bars, op-amps, photo transistors, stepper motors, solar panels and batteries.

If you want to apply your ideas and abilities to something new, please try make a dual dish solar accumulator and apply your tracking method to it. It has stationary focal points so you can run a Stirling engine or even a fridge from it.

  • @jkrush28 Hi, I have just checked your utube home. would you like to do a stick figure animation of the dual dish concept? (rotating to follow the sun.)

You could do summer and winter configurations. I introduced the concept about a year ago.

People who get shown the model "get" it. but I have failed to explain it over the internet.

    Thanks Brian

  • The project is awesome but the video need more improvement that can show more details.

  • @WICKEDMAN9MM I will probably make a better version in the summer.

Dripper trackers have branched out a bit. There is now the simple water clock drippers, clock based dripper trackers and the liquid piston dripper tracker. (I have only made models of the liquid piston tracker).

I am busy at the moment finishing a better model of the tracking solar accumulator for the arts and science fair in Toronto on 8th May.

    Thanks Brian
