You will be required to stop alongside a vehicle that is parked at the kerb with a space of about two car lengths behind it.

You have to reverse safely into the space and stop parallel and reasonably close to the kerb.

  • So no need to indicate before turning into the space ?

  • @owncompany The reversing lights should be enough, although a signal should be given if you think it would help someone.

So if you was in a busy road a left signal as you approach a parking space should give following traffic an idea of your intentions. They might stop and wait for you to reverse or will drive around

  • I spell kerb "curb", but then I'm always learning something new

  • @zatheris 'Curb or Kerb'? For the noun designating the edge of a roadway (or the edge of a British pavement/ American sidewalk/ Australian footpath). Curb is the older spelling, and in the UK as well as in the US, it is still the proper spelling for the verb meaning restrain.[129] Canada as in the US.

  • @210482fmj I don't live in London, I live in the midlands, but I learned in an auto and passed my test and have a full auto licence. I agree it makes life (or driving life anyway lol) so much more easier and less complicated but not only in urban areas, but in rural too :)
