Artists have depicted war in a variety of paintings and sketches. Here are 120 of the best from the Napoleonic era, from the Revolution to Napoleon's campaigns in Egypt, the Iberian peninsula, Russia, and exile to Elba, followed by his escape and ultimate defeat by Wellington at Waterloo. gleaned from the Internet and set to music.

  • What is the the painting at 0:46?

  • It was an etching, manning the barricades, or some such by name. I did this so long ago that I've forgotten many of the formal titles. Someday I'll learn to keep better records.

    Sorry, John

  • Only Grande Armee that marched on Moscow was multinational, included Prussian and Austria armies (which disbanded immediately when faced with Russians xd). Before if I'm not mistaken it was purely French plus Polish legions, which where semi-independent. It didn't gave Poland anything good btw, but well, our nation always picked strange allies xD

  • France is a country of beatiful women and craven soliders :-D (in Napoleons army was many foreigners)

  • Many of these images are from the 1830 July Revolution

  • "Combat devant l'hôtel de ville " de Jean-Victor Schnetz.

"Fights in front of Paris townhall". But it is about the 1830 french revolution not about the 1789 french revolution

  • Vive l'Revolution!!! Vive l'Insurrection de Novembre!!!
