The wild IS where the pet stores get them from. People haven't figured out how to breed them in captivity.

I oftenly collect land hermit crab from the beach since I know much better than most petshop owners in taking care of land hermit crabs. Many pet shops in Indonesia & USA cannot give proper conditions for their hermit crab stocks.

exactally, the petstores just shove them in uncomfortable shells, painted. except my local store, there nice people, they say they hate painted shells, every animal there has a huge tank or cage. its really nice

You should not bring them home from the Beach ever, just buy them from petstores.
