Rio's First Video

This is Rio, my new puppy. He is a 16 week old Australian Cattle Dog/whippet mix. He was rescued a few weeks before christmas with his mom and two siblings from a puppy mill in PA by a rescue in NJ. I've had him for one week and he's been AWESOME!

He is OOOZING with confidence and is into everything. He's got energy galore is just an amazing little man.

He is going to be a blast to train because he is already offering so many behaviors that i want to capture--he rolls over all the time, he stands on his hind legs, he is obsessed with using his feet, and he's even doing flyball box-turns off my shins (aka miniature reverse chest vaults). He is already comfortable climbing all over me so i expect to have a backstall done in NO time at all! At 16 weeks (and only one week in my house) he's already giving me LOTS of good eye contact, is learning to look at me when i say his name, he has a really good sit (thank you foster family for your hard work), he is working on down (pretty reliable inside when i have food on me), touch, and spin--we will start working on a recall and stay tonight probably.

He's very, very cute! My guy is ACD/Jack Russell, so very similar breed. He's great, and if Rio is anything like him, you'll have a lot of fun with him :)

Thanks!!! I think Rio will be LOTS of fun... i can't wait for him to be 12-18 months so we can really start some disc and start doing more than flat work for agility .... and maybe explore Flyball since he's already doing box turns off my shins! LOL!

He is just too cute. ;) I love his little run hops. Maybe it's due to the hardwoods since Ris rarely does a normal run across mine.

I did flyball with Dash for about a month...it was so fun! He absolutely loved it, but they wanted us to commit to traveling almost every weekend (they wanted him a height dog), and I couldn't do that, so I decided to focus on agility.
