This video will give you an overview of the 3D Beamsplitter rig I built for less than 100 including the cost of the glass. Make sure to check out www.chompers3d.com the project I'm using the rig on.

  • Hi, how can you set both cameras to record at the same time?, o

  • @woscar84 I use an infrared remote (rc6) routed through two fiber optic cables to the IR triggers on the front of the camera. I've tried syncing by taking a picture with a triggered remote and a split mini-pin cable but the results don't seem to be better than just using the remote.

  • I use mainly prime lenses because the picture is so much better. But I have experimented with using zooms. I just got to either the wide or the far side of both zooms. You can go inbetween and just eyeball the marks on the zooms. If you're taking pictures this should work okay. You will have to massage them in post but I bet you'll still get good results.

  • @woscar84 You can't... You can start them at the "same" time but the shutters will drift and your footage will be out of sync. This would only be useful for stills, with Canon T2i Rebels.

  • @kingcabvids I agree about 3D film factory - they love putting other 3D enthusiasts down & basically insulting them instead of maybe some words of encouragement or even some advice. Brilliant Idea for the rig & the design shows your skill at simplifying complex mechanisms into something that can be built by your average enthusiast.

Thank you for posting this !!!

  • @3dfilmfactory You guys have no class whatsoever.

  • Thanks for sharing... I've shot a few 3-D projects (parallel) and honestly I've checked out 3D film Factory and their beam splitter rigs and frankly I thought my results were better in comparison adjusting my own convergence in post. I was actually interested in the beam splitter rig Thanks 2 u... I now made my decission.

  • What is it about YouTube that attracts the haters? Anyone who willing to put in what appears to be a lot of work and thought should be encouraged.

  • That's really cool.

  • @3dfilmfactory "a major lab" why aren't you saying which lab and posting the results? Your lying is as bad as your grammar...and your rigs.
