Microturbo SG-18 Hot Start (Startup Only)

This is the startup of the first run of my Microturbo SG-18. We didn't know we needed to use compressed air to assist in starting the engine, so we subjected it to a horrendous hot start.

Hello, What Fuel or Gas are you Using to Fire Up your Microturbo SG-18 Jet Engine. I have Microturbo TRI-60 and Im Having a Hard Time Getting it to Idle Speed with out a EGT Over Temp, Looks like Your Jet Go's Strait to Idle with no Problem. Great job, Take a look at my Video's (scuferrari)

Hi! Glad you liked the video. The SG-18 immediately accelerates all the way up to full operating speed. The fuel system is relatively primitive compared to most other turbine engines like my much older T-41M-9A. It's not designed to be throttleable like its TRS-18 counterpart. The fuel system can be adjusted to run on JP-4 or Diesel by turning a valve (1/4 turn on a needle valve that fine-adjusts bypass flow back to the fuel pump).
