Composed by: Nobuo Uematsu
Arranged by: Michael Gluck ("Piano Squall")
Performed by: Sir Gawaine

This is the ending of my "end of year recital". My teacher said to me that i would play 2 songs for this recital, the opening and the ending. So I choosed Kyle's arrangement of 'Hikari' for the opening, and M. Gluck's arrangement of 'To Zanarkand' for the ending. Did I choosed well?? :)

Anyway, the camera angle here is very bad. I'm sorry for this but It's not every time that I can play on a real grand piano, so this was a very special moment for me and I wanted to record It. And there's mistakes too =l This is also the first time I played to an audience and It was harder than I thought.

If You would ask, the girl that appears on the video is my teacher and the piano is a Kawai (my digital piano is a kawai too) .
I thinking on the next recital that I will play... It will probably be in 6 months... I'm planning to play 'Those Who Fight'. OMG I will have to practice a lot!

Thanks for watching my video ;)

  • That last part with all the arpeggios in the left hand was pretty tough, wasn't it? I'm working on that section myself right now.

  • @MagicGuru88 Just a little... That kind of fast arpeggios are very normal in piano songs (Its on Concert paraphase on Dearly Beloved too). So, learn this because You will probably use it a lot in the future. just a tip! ;)

  • @gaWgaMes

The hard part for me is getting some of those chords exactly right while I'm also doing the arpeggios, that one chord with C, D, F#, A, C in particular. It sounded like maybe you hit a couple wrong notes on accident? Fun piece, though.

I'm also starting to pick up Piano Squall's arrangement of Scars of Time from Chrono Cross, you might want to check it out if you haven't already, it's quite fun to play.

  • @MagicGuru88 Yeah, when I was learning the song I thought that those chord was wrong too... so I always play D,F#,A,D instead (If I remember right).. I think that It sound more beautiful in that way.

  • It's a pity that the audience doesn't seem to listen more closely. It's not easy to play under these conditions, and you pulled it off very nicely. I like the timbre you produce. Once again, this kind of playing after only two years is amazing!

  • Thanks! Its very special for me have a comment from an extremely good pianist like You in my video. And I have to say that I'm trying to learn "Concert Paraphrase on Dearly Beloved" because of You. Thanks very much for commenting on my video, I'm very happy :)

  • I loved that song since I first heard it. and when I thought I had no more surprises of destiny for me for me, it shows me that you Gawaine. the surprises of fate... some can be magical. I salute you, Gawaine, the son -of -music.

  • 1 month, but I was learning other pieces at the same time as always ;) But I have to say that I learned the piano collections version before this one (like 6 months before) this made me learn this arrangment more easy :]

  • Thanks Mat, Its always nice to see You around.

  • Thanks man, but the credit for adding notes to the song is to Michael Gluck and his incredible sheet music. I like It more than 'piano collections' version ;)
