Stuntman Mike is that badass who wants he gets smacked a little, he bitches up. Case in point the badass bully who once gets someone who stands up to him, reveals the coward that's their the whole time.

The best theory I've heard for why reason Stuntman Mike is so different a character in the two halves is this: Deathproof was made so that it would appear Tarantino was splicing together two half finished films and releasing them as a single product. Since certain actors often portrayed the same types of roles the idea that just mashing films into one piece was something to expect from exploitation directors.
I think there are a lot of clues in the film to make this a possibility.

I loved deathproof. Made me glad I invested in a Bose surround sound system and 500 watt amplifier. Cranking up the car chase. Damn - that just kicks the shit out of topgun!

I like you guys a lot, but I have to disagree with you on the characte of Stuntman Mike and his "character change". Stuntman Mike is no different than a sociopathic bully. He'll pick on people who don't stand up for themselves, and think he's all that. But as soon as someone stands up for themselves, he pussies out.

jeff, im sorry. but i dont think ive agreed with one thing you've ever said on all these episodes. can i PLEASE take your place???
-
yeah the films had there good points which you guys pointed out well but as a whole the films do not hold up for me

I think you guys should see the International longer version of Planet Terror. I saw both versions,
there is only one missing reel scene in the longer version and it doesn't take anything away. It feels a lot more like a movie. I really loved it.

I really didn't like PLANET TERROR. But I did like the other episodes.

The casting of MACHETE is actually looking a little weird, with Robert De Niro and Lindsay Lohan playing bit parts...Huh????
WELL, I'll see it if it comes to theaters.
-
in august you guys have to do a show on inglourious basterds
Great review guys! I did see these films in the theaters but didn't really like them. After the dvd release i watched them again and enjoyed them more watching the movies at home. The machete trailer was my favorite as well! A little extra note, A machete movie is in talks.

I caught half of Death Proof. I have a theory that with each film, Tarantino sets out to disprove one of the cardinal 'rules' of filmmaking. In this one, the rule that says don't shoot hours of talking heads scenes, as you mentioned. It doesn't work. He seems to keep characters talking (about nothing at all really) until he has expressed the same idea as many ways as he can, maybe looking for the perfect way like an OCD sufferer. As you said, all the characters wind up sounding like him.
