A brief look at the history and background of Mike Finn's martial arts career, especially in Japan. This covers his early years from around 1955 to present day, especially his training in Japan, the masters he trained with, and the qualifications he attained.
I am concerned by the number of "martial artists" leaving cynical, bitter or unnecessarily critical comments on youtube. Anyone leaving such comments does not appreciate the true nature of being a martial artist. Mike Finn is certainly the real deal.

I trained in Judo from the age of 11 at the London Judo Society in 1968. I later met Mike Finn upon his return from Japan. (He won't remember me). He instructed me in Shorinji Kempo. I can vouch that his training methods were superb..he inspired me to become a Police Officer, obtain my 1st Dan and continue my studies in other martial arts. He certainly was a great influence in my life. Any person who questions sensei Finns qualifications etc have never trained with him.

It's a shame that due to some people’s apparent insecurity and jealousy they choose to question your proven experience, skill and qualifications. I bet most haven’t even trained with you.
Nowadays too many people receive Dan grades that are not worth the paper they are written on. To all those that receive their Dan grades with minimal training, under questionable instruction and in less than a year, I would strongly recommend looking for somewhere else to learn and train in the martial arts.

This is one of the most inspiring videos I have ever seen. I have noticed that those who criticise grades never train with the people they criticise and do not understand the value of martial art training. Many thanks for posting and I look forward to the next one.

Like the archive footage. Very lucky to have trained with all those masters, impressive. The cold war Trans Siberian Railway crossing sounds interesting. Thanks.

That's a lot of Masters you were in contact with, meeting them must have left a deep impression on you. It's a tribute to them that you are still training in the way they showed you after all this time. Thanks for uploading.
